Step: 1
Using a screwdriver, remove the six screws from the battery case. |
 |
Step: 2
Once the screws are removed, pull the front cover from the Clie. Removed the two screws at the bottom of the Clie. The silver plastic connector frame can now be removed. |
 |
Step: 3
With the bottom connector frame removed the screen and circuit board can be pulled away from the back of the case. One ribbon cable should remain connected to the back of the case. |
 |
Step: 4
To remove the top circuit board, you must first disconnect the three ribbon date cables. To remove these cables, pull the connector clamp away from the connector. The clamp should not be removed, but pulled out just far enough to pull the ribbon cable away from connector. There will also be two small screws which need to be removed. |
 |
Step: 5
With the ribbon cables removed the main circuit board can now be lifted from the rest of the Clie. The circuit board should still be attached by one large cable underneath and the battery power cable. The three ribbon cables we detached earlier should be attached to the battery with small pieced of black tape. Carefully lift these pieces of the tape away from the battery so the battery can be freely removed. |
 |
Step: 6
To remove the battery power cable, carefully pull the cable away from the connector. Use your finger or the tip of a screwdriver to unglue and pull the battery away from the case. To insert the new battery, line-up the battery power cable connector with the power socket. Use your finger or the tip of a screwdriver to push the connector into the socket. Apply the new battery on the case with the guide brackets. The battery should stick to the original orientation (power cable on the same as side as power connector). |
 |
Step: 7
Re-attach the main circuit board (using the two screws you removed earlier) and reconnect the three ribbon data cables.
Snap on the back case and re-attach the sliver plastic connector frame. Snap on the front cover of the Clie and put back the six screws.
Your new battery will need a minimum of three hours of charging before first use.
